Plain-English definitions for the terms you’ll see across WonderCast — from avatars and voice clones to the safety engine and COPPA compliance.

- Behavioral Story# link
- A story designed around a specific parenting moment — sharing, bedtime, big feelings — that models the behavior in an age-appropriate arc.
C
- Cast# link
- The set of characters (children, parents, friends, pets, toys) that appear in a story. A family builds and reuses their cast over time.
- COPPA# link
- The US Children's Online Privacy Protection Act. WonderCast is designed to meet COPPA's requirements, including parental consent verification and strict data minimization for under-13 users.

- Device Auth# link
- The QR-code pairing flow that lets Apple TV (and other shared-screen devices) sign in by scanning a code from the phone app, with no passwords typed on-screen.

- Family Account# link
- A single billing account that can hold multiple children, parents, and characters. Everyone in the family shares one library and one subscription.
- Fortify Media# link
- WonderCast's batched media-generation pipeline. Fortify orchestrates image, video, and audio jobs across multiple AI providers and returns results to the story composer.
- Founding Family# link
- The launch cohort of early supporters who receive permanent perks — locked pricing, recognition, and direct input into the product roadmap.

- Generation Limit# link
- The per-month cap on books, videos, or audiobooks for a given plan. WonderCast uses generation limits (not credits) so parents always know what they can make.
- Guest Voice# link
- A voice contributed by someone outside the family — for example a grandparent recording remotely through a shared link — that can narrate stories alongside family voices.

- Image Book# link
- A static illustrated storybook; the base output tier. Each page has an AI-generated illustration and narration-ready text.
P
- Parent Insight# link
- An AI-generated 2-3 sentence parenting tip shown at the end of each story, grounded in the story's theme so parents can extend the conversation offline.
S
- Safety Engine# link
- The moderation pipeline that reviews every generated story before a child sees it. It screens prompts, narration, imagery, and audio against age-appropriate guardrails.
- Scene# link
- One page of a story: visual description, narration, dialogue, and — for video books — a short clip. Scenes are the atomic unit of a WonderCast story.
- Scene Regeneration# link
- Regenerating a single story page without rerunning the whole story. Useful when a parent wants to tweak just one illustration or line without losing the rest of the book.

- Video Book# link
- A moving, narrated picture book with AI-generated scenes. Each page becomes a short animated clip synced to the narration.
- Voice Clone# link
- An ElevenLabs-trained voice that reads stories in a family member's voice, so a parent on deployment or a grandparent across the country can still narrate bedtime.
W
- Word Fun# link
- The post-story language activity (phonics, definitions, vocabulary extension) available on the feedback screen. Turns passive listening into active learning.
